I dont care what other people say. If you're a hardcore gamer who loves games, you go and get a playstation 3. Period. I had my eye on the 80GB one for a few months now and I'm just waiting for the $ to go down a little more before I do this. I've had the chance to testdrive this baby last night at JC's place and it did not disappooint. Couple that with a kickass TV and you have digital bliss at your fngertips! Playstation HOME here i come

I am a videogame geek. I also love music. Now, thankfully there's this game called rockband. If you've gone to the video arcades and seen people play dance dance revolution then you'll have an idea of what this game is. It's a combination of acoustic guitars, bass guitars, drums and mic. All these things are happening while you jam on with your buddies.

Now, its a good thing that our garage band here in the office is made up of Sony fanboys who all got Playstation 3s. Now, i plan to purchase my own during the holidays along with my rockband acoustic guitar. JC is going to get the drums, Errol on bass and Jea on vocals. If we dont jam on the same site, we can also do it online. Its gonna be awesome!

I am a big fan of Gamespot's weekly podcast which is the Hotspot and a huge reason is because i am a fan of its senior editor Jeff Gerstmann who is just freakin entertaining to listen to. Now, i just got this news a few minutes ago and i am still reeling from the shock. Jeff, after being employed in gamespot for 10 years, was just fired. The reason isnt quite clear yet but initial reports are saying its over a low score he gave a game from Eidos, who put a lot of money into the site for this game's advertising.

I am really saddened by this news as i wont be able to listen to my favorite podcaster anymore. It was a very disappointing move for gamespot to be able to do something like this. Unless they give a proper explanation over the firing, i will be boycotting their site!

Rockstar is a genius! Their marketing campaign is just awesome whether intentional or unintentional! As i mentioned in my previous blog, rockstar has the top government officials advertising their game for them. NOW, they also have game stores doing the same thing. In a store where they sell Manhunt to Mature 18+ folks, they have this sign right next to it....

How do the other games compete with this?? Again, given the affordable price (which the nice government guys were so nice to publish), and then this sign? If I wasn't already playing this game on my PSP right now, it just makes me want to go and pick this up.
Ok, after seeing my colleagues take this exam, i decided to do it as well. So after taking this Tickle career interest exam, it came out as "Engineer". Since high school i always thought i was destined to do something related to computers. But as i got into my engineering course,i realized that this was a better fit for me. Now, i'm doing service operations and project management for P&G.. so go figure, right? But personally i really think its not the information that you learn in college, but more of the training on disciplines and the thinking process. But that's just me.

From tickle ...
Druce, based on your responses, your top career area is Engineering

Careers in this field often demand that you be exceptionally creative, and think "outside of the box." Enjoying an engineering career means having an insatiable curiosity for figuring out how things work. Having an interest in developing your math and spatial skills helps too. Most likely, you're interested in not just taking things apart but putting them back together again.

Here's a recent news story that really cracked me up. Another anti-gaming politician from California by the name of Leland Yee has quoted another awesome line with regards to Rockstar (the same publisher that released the Grand theft auto games), this time targetting Manhunt 2's october 31 .

Quote : "Manhunt 2 retails for US$ 29.99 (the price of the PSP version; the Wii version sells for US$ 39.99) - a tempting offer for minors to buy and play a game loaded with graphic violence

I find this statement freakin' awesome. Why? It's FREE advertisement for the game. It translates to, "KIDS, buy this game the government doesnt want you to play, its so cheap that anyone can afford it. And it comes out on the PSP, PS2 and Wii." Now, i am all for videogame censoring from young kids, BUT, banning a game from coming out isn't the right way to go. The same way you keep telling a kid not to do something, he'll only want to do it even more. It's the same here, parents should explain to their kids what these are all about. But that's just me.
Hello Mr. masked dude

Just to give a background, Manhunt 2 is a videogame coming for some current generation systems like the ps2, psp and wii. It's about a dude who escaped prison and is trying to remember what happened to him. Oh, and he has to waste a few dudes on the way.

Manhunt 2 has been the latest subject of media attention. After being reviewed by the ESRB (organization that rates video games, similar to R-18/PG13 ratings for movies), it was tagged with an AO (Adults only) rating which is a major no-no because #1, Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo will not allow these to play in their consoles and #2, major retailers will not carry these in their stores. The developers had to re-cut it and remove the gory parts which brought it down to its M(Mature) rating.
I love dragons. It's one of those things that really fascinates me. Great mythical creatures breathing fire. Some of my favorite past times have dragons involved, whether it be card battling (Magic:The Gathering), reading fantasy books or playing video games. Now, when i'm not dabbling in the mythological world, i like to play modern day shooters. Guys with big guns shooting at guys with bigger guns. Now, what's better than dragons or guns? Dragons with GUNS right? So when i heard about this movie Dragon Wars or D-wars that did just that i thought, "Awesome! This movie's gonna rock!". Giving Dragons guns shooting at other dragons? How could you go wronG? Right??.... Wrong

Dragons + guns = awesome?

Based on a korean legend, this movie is about a good imoogi or giant serpent who's in a race with a bad imoogi to find this "narin" or this girl who has this special innate spirit that they need to eat (along w/ the girl) so they can transform into a dragon. Now, this spirit only shows up every 100 years and they have to wait for this narin to turn 20 before they can eat her. Now, the bad imoogi has a guardian and an army of dragons with guns (think dino riders) and for some reason, the good imoogi only has this pansy dude that has to make sure he delivers the narin to him. That's where this really bad and cheesy love story starts. Now, i don't normally care about the story if its an action movie as long as they give me some dragon on dragon action, but they seems to want to focus more on this crappy love story which results in an overall crappy movie with some amazing moments.

Bad imoogi (far left) runs after Narin (far right)

Overall, i think that this is an "ok" movie. Not something i would recommend to anyone unless you have an hour and a half to burn.
