[Movie Preview] The Conjuring Shows Horror in Real Life

Real life horror! There have been several movies in the past that have tacked this type of setting wherein they claim that the events that happen are based on a true story. The Conjuring is another one of those movies. According to the trailer, this was the story that the actual family didn't want to tell until now because the world wasn't ready. Are you now?

The Conjuring tells the story of a family who just moved in to their newly bought farmhouse that was secluded from the city. It was supposed to be their dream house but apparently some folks died there quite violently during the war so as a result, there be creeps haunting it. The Perron family then hires paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren who do their thing. It's not clear whether they're there to exorcise demons or to talk to them or to mediate.

I saw some materials and interviews on the original owners, specifically Andrea Perron and if you read between the lines, it starts to become quite shady on what really happened. They say things like the movie is based on the point of view of the Warrens.

"They conducted an investigation of our home between 1973-74 and the movie tells our story from their perspective."

There are also quotes that say that the director does a good job of making the movie:

"James (Wan) captured the essence of it and for this I will remain eternally grateful"

James Wan is the horror master director who also did SAW and Insidious. So at least we know what we're getting into. The trailer is quite freaky. The Conjuring comes out on Philippine theaters on August 21.
