Second Part of Dota 2 6.80 Analysis

Yesterday, I started with the Patch analysis for the Dota 2 Patch 6.80. This is the second part which talks about the rest of the other heroes in scope as well as items.
GAMEPLAY UPDATE 6.80
Ancient Apparition
Ice Vortex spell damage amplification increased from 10/15/20/25 to 15/20/25/30
Ice Vortex duration increased from 12 to 16
Ice Vortex aura stickiness increased from 0.1 to the standard 0.5 aura value

It’s now easier for AA to plan out his vortex during fights and chases since the slow sticks for longer.

Ogre Magi
Unrefined Fireblast manacost changed from 400 to 60% of your current mana [?]

This is very interesting. This means that you could ideally cast fireblast an unlimited number of times. But the more mana you have, it costs you more to cast. This also means you can’t really spam it since you won’t be able to cast your other spells.

Omni Knight
Degen Aura stickiness increased from 1.0 to 2.0 seconds [?]

This makes chasing those heroes who just stick at the edge of the fight a bit easier. A bit.

Outworld Devourer
Astral Imprisonment cast range reduced from 550 to 500

The range increase makes laning against an OD that much more annoying. It also makes him a better chasing hero now.

Phantom Assassin
Invisible heroes now trigger Blur
Blur delay reduced from 1.5 to 0.75

This is just an adjustment that should have been there in the first place. So you can kind of tell now if there’s another hero in the vicinity.

Queen of Pain
Sonic Wave Scepter cooldown rescaled from 100/70/40 to 40

I love this buff. Now it makes sense to get scepter for QoP. Sheepstick is still better as a first major item though

Riki
Base HP regen increased from 0.75 to 1.5

Riki is more survivable now with double the life regen.

Sand King
Sand Storm radius rescaled from 275/325/375/525 to 525

Minor buff.

Shadow Demon
Shadow Poison max effective stacks increased from 4 to 5

This is a nice buff. Now it’s easier to kill with SD… by a little.

Shadow Shaman
Shackles duration increased from 2.5/3.25/4/4.75 to 2.75/3.5/4.25/5
Mass Serpent Wards can no longer trap Roshan

Nice buff. I also wasn’t aware that you could trap RS with this. So I guess they fixed this bug.

Silencer
Global Silence cooldown reduced from 140 to 130

Yay. Now teams with silencer can team fight 10 seconds sooner.

Skywrath Mage
Mystic Flare damage increased from 600/900/1200 to 600/1000/1400

This is a nice buff for SM. More damage is always good.

Slardar
Bash damage increased from 40/50/60/70 to 40/60/80/100

This makes Slar’s bash a bit better later in the game.

Slark
Pounce damage reduced from 70/140/210/280 to 60/120/180/240
Shadow Dance cooldown reduced from 65 to 60

A small nerf for pounce and a small buff for the dance cooldown.

Sniper
Take Aim range bonus increased from 80/160/240/320 to 100/200/300/400

Sniper is now officially more annoying with this range increase. Maybe he’ll be more viable now since he’s so easy to kill.

Spirit Breaker
You now gain vision over your target while you are casting Netherstrike

This made me so sad. From the last patch, I could run from netherstrike by juking. Now there is no escape.

Storm Spirit
Base movement speed reduced from 295 to 290

Minor nerf.

Sven
Base armor increased by 3
Warcry cooldown reduced from 36/30/24/18 to 32/26/20/14

Now he’s more tanky at the start. The warcry can also be used more times now, during init then maybe another during chase or escaping

Terrorblade
Sunder cooldown reduced from 160/110/60 to 120/80/40
Sunder is no longer partially blocked by Magic Immunity
Reflection cast range increased from 250 to 275

I haven’t used this guy yet

Tidehunter
Kraken Shell debuff threshold reduced from 600 damage taken to 600/550/500/450
Kraken Shell damage block increased from 9/18/27/36 to 10/20/30/40

I love this buff. Now I can use Tidehunter again. The Kraken shell debuff means that you get your debuffs more often at higher levels. It also means there’s more reason for me to put more points into it.

Timbersaw
Base strength reduced from 25 to 22

Hopefully this nerf will slightly lessen his snowball potential.

Tinker
Added Aghanim's Scepter: Doubles Laser cast range and Heat-Seeking missile count

I think this scepter ability only makes sense if you get a really good early farm since the laser burst damage becomes less effective later on. This just makes sure you’re able to cast the laser from a distance for the 100% miss chance debuff.

Treant Protector
Overgrowth AoE increased from 625 to 675
Nature's Guise cast range increased from 300 to 600

This is a nice buff for Treant. You still need to get in the middle of the fight to cast the overgrowth. Doubling the Guise’s range also will mean that it’s easier to save your allies.

Troll Warlord
Fervor max stacks rescaled from 2/3/4/5 to 4
Fervor attack speed per stack rescaled from 20 to 16/22/28/34

I smiled when I saw this. It means I can just put 1 point then level up my Fervor a lot later.

Tusk
Secondary units hit by the Snowball now take the same impact as the primary unit
Removed 50% threshold mechanic from Walrus Punch
Walrus Punch base crit increased from 3x to 3.5x

OMG. This gives people less reason to think when using Tusk. Just roll in and uppercut.

Undying
Soul Rip cooldown reduced from 25/20/15/10 to 24/18/12/6

Minor buff.

Vengeful Spirit
Wave of Terror armor reduction increased from 2/3/4/5 to 3/4/5/6

Minor buff.

Venomancer
Base damage reduced by 5
Base HP regen reduced from 0.75 to the default 0.25

It’s harder now to last hit with Venomancer. More reason to rely on the wards since his HP regen also went down. tranquil boots anyone?

Visage
Base movement speed reduced by 5
Grave Chill manacost rescaled from 70/80/90/100 to 100
Familiars are now properly magic immune

Minor nerf.

Warlock
Upheaval max duration increased from 12 to 16

It’s 4 seconds more annoying to lane against warlock.

Windranger
Focus Fire manacost reduced from 200/300/400 to 150
Focus Fire no longer has a cast animation

This gives windranger flexibility to build other items since the manacost for ulti is now lower significantly.

Witch Doctor
Maledict AoE increased from 150 to 165
Voodoo Restoration initial manacost reduced from 25/50/75/100 to 20/30/40/50
Paralyzing Casks can now bounce to units in Fog of War

Easier to hit the maledict slightly. The voodoo healing is also slightly cheaper to cast now. The Casks is the major buff, this is to make sure you hit allied heroes even through fog of war. it used to be that it would only hit 1 enemy and stop bouncing if there wasn’t any visible targets to bounce to.

Wraith King
Reincarnation slow increased from 50 to 75%
Reincarnation slow duration increased from 4 to 5

Gives WK more chance to either kill or escape after a resurrection.

Zeus
Arc Lightning cast range increased from 700 to 850



Minor buff. It’s now a bit safer to spam this spell.

ITEMS   

Animal Courier
Ground Courier bounty per player reduced from 175 to 150

This is only for walking courier.

Arcane Boots
Manacost increased by 10

The boots are now supporty-er. You get less 10 mana from using it.

Battle Fury
Cleave AoE increased from 225 to 250

Minor buff.

Blink Dagger
Blink no longer has a manacost

SUPER LIKE this. Now it’s easier to escape or initiate with blink dagger. I don’t need to include that 75 mana into my computations.

Bottle
Can now be used on your allies by holding down the Control key

Makes sense. Now I don’t need to drop bottles to share the charge. This does not include runes. Just the drink.

Diffusal Blade
Agility bonus increased from 22/26 to 25/30

Minor buff.

Drums of Endurance
Number of charges increased from 4 to 5
Recipe cost increased from 800 to 875

Minor change. More charges for 75 more gold. This will now take maybe half a creep wave longer.

Eul's Scepter of Divinity
Cyclone cooldown reduced from 25 to 23

Minor buff.

Force Staff
Force travel speed is reduced

I have to see how drastic this change it. 0.4 instead of 0.3 seconds to get where you need to go sounds like just a minor change. But we’ll see.

Iron Branch
Gold cost reduced from 53 to 50

This might sound minor, but there are games where in I’m left with 40+ gold after the starting items. This enables me to get a branch at least.

Mask of Madness
Lifesteal increased from 17% to 20%

Minor buff to MoM.

Mjollnir
Changed the area type that is used when Static Charge hit units

Minor change. it now uses an AoE to determine where the lightning bounces to.

Necronomicon
Necronomicon units bounty increased from 100/125/150 to 100/150/200
Necronomicon units armor reduced from 6/8/10 to 4
Necronomicon cooldown increased from 80 to 95

A big and needed nerf to Necronomicon. Those little creatures were getting too powerful. Now they give you more gold when killed and they are easier to kill with less armor.

Observer Ward
Can be targeted on allies to transfer one charge

Super like this change. Now we can have wards both top and bot at the start.

Radiance
Attack damage bonus increased from 60 to 65

Minor buff.

Refresher Orb
Recipe cost reduced from 1875 to 1800

Minor buff

Ring of Aquila
Agility bonus increased from 6 to 9

There’s even more reason for me to upgrade my basilius now.

Rod of Atos
HP bonus increased from 325 to 350

Minor buff.

Sange and Yasha
Sange and Yasha slow duration increased from 4 to 5 seconds
Sange and Yasha slow increased from 30 to 32%

S&Y’s chasing power is more effective now.

Sentry Ward
Can be targeted on allies to transfer one charge

Same as for the observer wards.

Shadow Amulet
Fade delay improved from 1.8 to 1.5
Can now be used on allies

This is now a legit support item. There’s even more reason to get it before the Claymore now.

Shiva's Guard
Arctic Blast range increased from 719 to 900
Arctic Blast speed increased from 300 to 350

Much needed buff. Now it’s harder to escape from the frost. winter is coming.

Smoke of Deceit
Duration decreased from 40 to 35

Minor nerf.

Teleport Scrolls
Stacking delay decreased from 3/5/6/7/8 to 3/5/5.5/6/6.5
Max targeting range increased from 525 to 575

I like how it’s faster now to TP to a structure to defend team fights after the second guy gets there. It also gets you nearer the battle since the TP range is farther.

Tranquil Boots
Movement speed increased from 85 to 90
HP Regen increased from 10 to 12

More reason again to get Tranquils for those squishy INT supports.

Veil of Discord
Strength/Agility/Damage bonus increased from 3 to 6

Minor buff.
